For the past 3 months, Landlords have been unable to give notice to evict their tenants, which has impacted a number of sale and purchase transactions.

Next week, the  COVID-19 Response (Urgent Management Measures) Legislation Act 2020 will come to an end and the usual rules of the Residential Tenancies Act [RTA] will apply again.

This means from 26 June 2020 Landlords may terminate a tenancy if they have the lawful grounds to do so – including giving 42 days’ notice if the property is being sold, or 90 days’ notice for any reason.
